Four companies reported after Thursday's close, and all four stocks ended Friday lower. Western Digital and Bloom Energy beat Wall Street's estimates, Deckers raised its EPS outlook while cutting its sales forecast, and Newmont's sales rose even as it sold less gold. Here's what each one said, with prices as of 4:00 PM ET Friday (Sainteur ticker, delayed).
Western Digital: a big beat, a 17% dividend raise
Western Digital ($WDC) said fiscal first-quarter revenue rose 55% to $4.38 billion, and adjusted earnings came to $4.64 a share, its release shows. Analysts had expected $4.08 a share on $4.14 billion in revenue, Investing.com reported. For the current quarter, the company guided to about $5.1 billion in revenue and $5.80 in adjusted EPS at the midpoint. It also raised its quarterly dividend 17% to $0.175 from $0.15.
"Fiscal 2027 is off to a strong start, with results exceeding expectations, driven by robust customer demand and disciplined execution," CEO Irving Tan said. Evercore ISI called it an impressive beat but said investors will "struggle" with how long recent price increases last, according to Investing.com. Management also said capital spending should average 4% to 6% of revenue over five years, running modestly higher over the next two. Shares initially rose about 4% after the report before reversing after the earnings call, Investing.com said. WDC was down 2.97% at $343.67.
Deckers: higher EPS outlook, lower sales outlook
Deckers ($DECK) said quarterly sales rose 3.5% to $1.481 billion, and earnings per share were $2.31, including a $0.28 benefit from tariff refunds, its release shows. Revenue missed the $1.51 billion analysts expected, Benzinga reported.
The outlook is the split. Deckers now expects full-year sales of $5.700 billion to $5.725 billion, down from the $5.86 billion to $5.91 billion it guided in July, with Hoka now growing by a high single-digit percentage and Ugg by a low single-digit percentage. It raised EPS guidance to $7.80 to $7.95, but that includes about $0.52 from tariff refunds. CEO Stefano Caroti described a quarter run "in a challenging consumer environment." Piper Sandler downgraded the stock to Underweight, according to Benzinga. DECK was down 4.91% at $81.09.
Bloom Energy: a third guidance raise this year
Bloom Energy ($BE) said third-quarter revenue more than doubled to $1.24 billion, and adjusted EPS was $0.94, its release shows, beating estimates of $0.69 and $1.06 billion, per Investing.com. It lifted full-year revenue guidance to $4.4 billion to $4.6 billion, from $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion in July, and guided adjusted EPS to $3.10 to $3.40. CFO Simon Edwards said demand gave Bloom confidence to "raise our 2026 outlook for the third time this year." "What began with hyperscalers is rapidly moving across market segments because every business needs reliable power to grow," CEO KR Sridhar said. The stock had already fallen 8.76% in Thursday's regular session, before the report. BE was down 11.24% at $193.30.
Newmont: higher sales, fewer ounces sold
Newmont ($NEM) reported adjusted earnings of $2.20 a share, its release shows. Sales rose to $6.36 billion from $5.52 billion a year earlier. Newmont's average realized gold price was $4,317 an ounce in the quarter, while attributable gold ounces sold fell to 1,194 thousand from 1,308 thousand a year earlier. "Newmont remains on track to achieve our full-year 2026 production guidance and improved full-year cost outlook," CEO Natascha Viljoen said. The company improved its full-year all-in sustaining cost guidance to $1,520 an ounce. NEM was down 4.59% at $108.87.
