Trump offers $1 million to anyone who reports voter fraud, with no word on who pays
The offer covers past elections and the Nov. 3 midterm and pays on arrest and conviction. It names no agency, funding source or way to submit a tip.

Why it matters: It's a $1 million promise with no named budget line, agency or legal mechanism behind it yet, so there's no policy here for markets to price.

President Donald Trump said Monday he's offering $1 million to anyone who reports voter fraud, in past elections or in the Nov. 3 midterm, once someone is arrested and convicted. The White House's own account posted his words on X: "Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud!"
He repeated it to reporters before boarding Air Force One for a rally in Mississippi, the Guardian reported: "I’m also going to be issuing a $1m bonus or reward, or whatever you want to call it, for anybody that reports voter fraud, leading to the arrest and conviction of somebody."
Key details are missing. Trump didn't say where the money would come from, NBC News reported, and a White House spokesperson referred NBC to his post. He also didn't say how tips should be submitted or who would decide whether a claim qualifies, according to the Los Angeles Times, and the White House declined to comment beyond the post.
The offer follows a separate $25 million government fraud whistleblower program, NBC reported, for which Trump told reporters he'd decide who was worthy of the prize. NBC also reported Trump has promised $5,000 payments to Americans if Republicans keep Congress, again without saying where that money would come from.
On the underlying claim, NBC News reported there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in U.S. elections, and that a Heritage Foundation tracker has collected more than 1,600 incidents over 40 years, a tiny fraction of votes cast.
