Why it matters: Anthropic's IPO is near, and its filing shows fast revenue growth alongside about $895.4 billion of compute commitments and a fresh operating loss.

Anthropic's revenue for the quarter ended September 30 was $16,956 million, up from $1,382 million a year earlier, according to its amended IPO filing on Monday. The filing calls that 1,127% growth. Quarter over quarter, growth slowed to around 47%, CNBC reported.
Its future commitments are big too. The Claude maker lists about $895.4 billion of purchase commitments and leases, substantially all for compute and infrastructure, spread mostly from now through 2045. About $69.8 billion is due in the 12 months after September 30, and about $213.8 billion is subject to termination rights or contingent conditions before it starts.
The quarter also swung to a $567 million operating loss after $974 million of operating income in the second quarter, partly because of $5.0 billion of short-term compute that the filing says costs significantly more than its multi-year deals. CNBC put the quarter's net loss at $23.29 billion, a figure that isn't the same as the operating loss. And the filing warns:
We do not expect our revenue will continue to grow at comparable rates, and we cannot assure you that it will continue to grow at all.
Anthropic has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT." The listing is on track for the week before Thanksgiving, the Wall Street Journal reported, according to investingLive's summary.
