Super Micro Computer, which describes itself as an AI, Enterprise, Storage, and 5G/Edge IT total solution provider, reported net sales of $19.9 billion for its fiscal first quarter of 2027, ended Sept. 30, up from $5.0 billion a year earlier and $11.1 billion in the prior quarter, according to its results release. The company said the results are unaudited and preliminary because its closing procedures for the quarter aren't complete.
Net income was $1.59 billion, compared with $168 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share were $1.75, versus $0.26, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share were $1.81, versus $0.35, Quartz reported.
Supermicro’s transformation into a Total AI and IT Datacenter Solution provider continues to accelerate, delivering record revenue of $19.9 billion for the first quarter fiscal 2027,
The growth came at a thinner margin. Gross margin was 12.7%, up from 9.3% a year earlier but down from 17.5% in the prior quarter. Server assembly is a low-margin business next to chip design, so how much of each sales dollar Super Micro keeps is a figure investors track closely.
For the second fiscal quarter, the company expects net sales of $19.5 billion to $21.5 billion. For the full fiscal 2027 year, it expects $72 billion to $82 billion.
Analyst estimates for the quarter weren't available from an open source at publication, so this story doesn't say whether the results beat or missed expectations.
